Looking for jobs in hotels

The hotel industry has had a difficult time with the global pandemic but is now recovering very well. This means that there are plenty of jobs in the hotel industry for those who want them. Finding one, particularly if you have previous experience, will be relatively easy.

The first step is to make sure you have an up to date CV and get it registered on all the main job sites. There are several very good ones that list the type of job that you are interested in. You can also set up notifications from the sites that will alert you as soon as the type of hotel job that you want is advertised.

Some of the job roles will include accommodation, but not all hotels provide accommodation for staff that need it. If it is a short term role and you are temporarily relocating for it, there may be accommodation provided. In most cases, you will be able to take a few things from home to make it seem more like homely. Posters are a quick and easy way to brighten a room, they can be put up in minutes and removed when needed. Personalizing your own space is very easy when using Posters and other accessories such as cushions. Posters are such a good way to enhance a space that some hotels use them to decorate bar areas or corridors so the walk to your room isn’t boring.

Applying for the jobs

There is nothing that says that you have to wait for a specific job to be advertised to apply. if there is an establishment that you would particularly like to work for, then there is no harm sending them a speculative CV. There may not be a vacancy at the moment but if there is in the future and you’ve already send them your details then it may just save the the time and cost of advertising in the future.

You can take the same approach though if you just want to find a job. Emailing your CV around to all the hotels and other accommodation establishments will not take long and it could pay dividends. Be prepared for a phone interview in the first instance. Some hotels will use this as an opportunity to find out more about you and to see if they want to interview you formally. If you have good solid references that will help you a great deal with any application so make sure you either provide them or refer to them in your covering letter.
